Hi all,

I have heard some conflicting stories about how it is good to switch off your iPhone for an hour or so every week/fortnight/month.

I have not ever done this and haven't seemed to had an issue, but maybe it would help with battery life or something?

What is the MacRumours consensus on this issue?

An iPhone is a computer. All computers should be rebooted every so often. An hour shutdown is unnecessary. I’ll reboot after I notice a system hang or a system abnormality.....luckily this isn’t too often on iOS.

If you’re OCD about it, rebooting once a week can’t hurt. Wouldn’t worry too much about it, though.

I’m not sure if still relevant, but AT&T told me the I should power down-no more than a second or 2, and restart at least once a week to allow for carrier updates

I just leave it on most of the time, if it seems laggy due to ram fill up no harm in doing a quick on and off. iPhone standby time is freaking amazing at most i'll only lose 1% overnight or so [usually] if i forget to plug in before sleeping.
