Hmmmm, so tomorrow is THE BIG DAY.

My daughters birthday present finally arrives - her birthday was 2/2.

She however, has to go BOWLING with her sisters and Dad in the morning.

He said to her, "hey, your mom will probably have it all worn out by the time you get back"

HA. I could do that....

Do you know at all how much it will KILL ME to have that box sitting here and not to open it? DO YOU???????

And I just realized the flaw in my Easter Shopping logic... you know, going while they were bowling. Flip. Now what am i going to do???

OK, i'm so not the evil mom and won't open it.... but it's going to KILL ME to behave.

Good choice. Take the high road!!

She'll have her fun and then when yours arrives, you will have yours!! And you'll still get to play before you otherwise might!! Think positive!

Open it... but load it up with a few good apps... gives you a reason to get into the box and play and is a bonus as a gift...

This is the dawn of the iPad... can't we throw out all the old stupid rules already? ;)

Maybe i can convict her that I need to charge it - and load her apps up ;)

She did respond to him - well, it has a 10 hour battery, if it comes fully charged I will still have time to play with it if she does!

I should break it to her that it's not going to be charged huh???

Not! As tempting as it may be, leave it to your daughter to open it up. Wait for the package to arrive, sign for it, then leave the house on errands. You'll forget all about it. I know you will do the right thing. Despite the difficulty. :)

She's over there surfing the App Store - plotting her purchases. We have the free ones bought, and the iWorks stuff. Now i see her on "How stuff works" reading about it....

damn kids - they make you feel so good some of the time :)
And can be such a PITA the other times ;)

She's moved on to the Guided Tour movies again... most recent comment:

"what's with everyone sitting cross legged?"

Bwahahahaha.......

do YOU believe flash "will kill battery life"?
I don't really USE flash.... it's not a big deal for me at all.

I'd open it.
LOL, at least there are a few of you!

OMG....

She is cracking me up.

"Ok, it's just not the cross legged thing - what is UP with putting them on the coffee table? That is all they are doing, putting their feet up on the coffee table!!!!!!!!!! AARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH"

(we don't own a coffee table! LOL!!!)

She is so often NOT observant about stuff like this that it is funny she noticed!

Leave it. There will be plenty of time to play with it later. I'll tell you what. I plan on wandering over to the Apple store in the morning to pick mine up. I'll toss it on the desk and not open it until I see you've posted that she got home and opened hers...

Nahh. But it sounded good for a second didn't it?

But what I will do is take one look at the line and if it's long and insane I'll leave and come back later. I suspect that as it gets closer to 3pm the line will get crazy because people without reservations will be showing up to get them on a first come first served basis. I plan to go early and check out the line, then return mid day if the lines are insane in the morning.

I really do think you should wait for her to get home. BTW, make sure somebody is there, otherwise you will be looking for the local Fedex or UPS depot and you will have to go pick it up. Only you can't pick it up until the truck gets back in and that may be very late in the day.

Don't open it up. Wait for her to do it. You will be glad.

Of course being similar to you, it would be hard not to open it up. I would probably just sit and stare at the box contemplating if I should open it or not. Ha ha!

I know where the depot is - picked up my Touch there in January. Her Dad works next door to it even - but our depot people are not nice. They'd not let me pick it up tomorrow.

Not like the ones were in CA :(

I would open & charge it as you mentioned earlier. that way she has juice to play with it when she gets home. I hated as a kid to have to wait for the battery to charge when I opened up a new toy for my bday & xmas.

When I read the post's title I immediately thought "of course, open it, what's the question?".

But for me, the best part about a gift is tearing open the wrap. Of course, I never got an iPad as a gift! Plus, your daughter already suffered 2 giftless months. My vote - not to open.
