iPhone 12 Do I REALLY need to go from xr to o 12?

So In a random but totally perfect surprise I not only received 6 months of unemployment from way last year on Wednesday but both stimulus checks Friday. I wasn’t really hurting for cash and I plan to save most of it, but I do want to treat myself a little.

I do currently rock an iPhone XR. Aside from the color(I hate black but it is all they had last October), I don’t dislike the phone.

Is there really any need for the iPhone 12 when I really don’t care about 5g or oled displays?

my xr works just fine and I honestly have no issues with it outside the color but am I really missing anything?
 
Need is a weird term. On the basis of need only I could get by with an iPhone 6. I don’t want one though and have enough disposable income to own better. If need is the question then keep the XR, it’ll get updates till 2023 at least. If you WANT the 12 and want some of its features then go buy one, it’s a nice upgrade and a better user experience with OLED and the lighter slimmer design imo.

I want a pedicure, mani and new hair more than an iPhone haha so I guess I made my choice lol
 
One main difference in the phones is the cameras. The 12 has better cameras. If you do a lot of photography it might be worth it. I have a Product(Red) XR and am still very happy with it. I like the camera options on my wife's XS Max but prefer the slightly slimmer size of the XR. I tnd to keep my phones for 3 to 4 years so probably no upgrade this year and will wait until the 2022 version.

No, I'd find something else to spend your cash on (or just save it). My wife upgraded from her XS and told me that other than the MagSafe charger (of course extra) this didn't feel like much of an upgrade at all. The speed difference is only a slight improvement in day to day tasks. The camera upgrade is nice, but the XS took good photos too. 5G is a non factor. Her LTE with a good signal in our area already hit 150mbps speeds, quite enough for mobile needs (faster than our wifi).

However, one of the reasons she did it was ATT was giving her 700 bucks trade in value on the XS. If your carrier is offering something similar, and you've paid that XR off, may be a bit more tempting.
 
Given the Xr is already a good phone. Plus you don't see any real need to upgrade. I'm in the skip it camp too.

The only upgrade I see as compelling is the camera. But upgrading for that reason. I'd be looking at the 12 Pro. With it's exceptional night shots.

So just put it in some safe stocks. When you do want something. You'll likely have more money to spend.
 
I agree with all the others: don't upgrade. My wife has a Xs, so same generation as your Xr, and she's still totally happy with it. There's honestly not that much difference in the user experience between that and my 12.

Ahh yes you do need to upgrade From the XR the camera sucks ball sacks compared to the 12
