Do I trade in my iPhone 4 after I get the 5, or before?

You just trade it in at the same time as you activate the new one. You do know you can get more $ if you sell it yourself on Amazon or eBay, right?
I know, I was just using it as an example. But I can't trade it in earlier? I'm afraid that the prices are going to go down quite a bit after the 21st.
