When you have hundreds of safari/chrome tabs open, are doing Zoom calls, browsing your photo library etc., will the fans activate?

I’m talking about routine activities BUT heavy multitasking, or rather sloppy habits of leaving many basic things open at once.

Will this cause the fans to activate? And will it be a better choice to get the M4 regular non pro version if you multitask a lot and don’t want fan noise?

Same... they made my old Intel MBP fans go like crazy.

I am wondering if this will happen with the new MacMini M4pro, and if this is something I want to avoid is it better to get a regular M4 Mini? Or a M4Pro Macbook Pro perhps?

Why would someone have 100s of tabs open
Well, for me, research + shopping + career stuff/opportunities + planning vacations + fun stuff/blogs I read + recipes + hobbies...it just adds up!

I leave lots of ongoing things open. Sometimes I leave a recipe open that i use frequently lol. I know it isnt ideal but this is just a habit I have had for years. I know I cant stop so I dont want to get a machine where it will be a problem causing fans/noise all the time

For your workload, I’d recommend gong with...
10-Core CPU
10-Core GPU
24GB Unified Memory
512GB SSD Storage
…Bumped up to 32GB Unified Memory. Of course, you can configure more storage as needed/desired.

Unless you know 32GB is (surprisingly) not enough (i.e., yellow or red memory pressure after having everything open loaded for a day or some otherwise lengthy period).

Anyway… My point is the processing performance should be plenty and it would be a config cheaper than even the base M4 Pro mini.

Never had the fans audibly activate doing anything except 4K gaming. Mutiple tabs, multiple apps, zoom, won't even make it blink (M4 Pro 14/20).
