Curious with all these posts about people losing contacts and not getting them back with a restore, do you all use icloud or google as your source to save contacts and why? is there a way to do both?

Mine's synced with Google. Only because that's how it did it since my original iPhone and I'm too lazy (and don't see the need/benefit) to switch to iCloud.

I did switch to iCloud for calendars though since syncing works easier and better with iCal on my MBP through iCloud.

iCloud! Because any changes I make on either phone or laptop, it all syncs together. Love it.

why were some people saying that iOS 7 wiped the phone and upon doing restore contacts were not there, why would that be?

only odd thing for me is my pdf's from ibooks keeps disappearing whenever i try to save a new one

iCloud with occasional backups to Google as well as manual Address Book exports on my Mac, backed up with Time Machine, Backblaze, and Dropbox. I guess I take backups seriously. ;)

I'm moving everything to icloud, including my email address. Was a committed gmail user but with Push gone from the native mail app I think it's time to jump ship.

Google

Used to be MobileMe until they nixed custom domain support when they downgraded me to iCloud.

yeah I just recently noticed that, when and why did they do that? any chance of it coming back?

Too bad on icloud I cant make different email addresses right? I need a business one as well

I've slowly been moving away from all Google services. I just don't trust them anymore with my information.

And I was thinking that I was paranoid !!! I use iCloud , TimeMachine and SuperDuper …Then I regularly export Address Book , Cal and Safari bookmarks to my Mac and Dropbox

I wouldn't count on it. They will likely use it as a selling tool for their native app.

What I would like in iOS is a way to move contacts, whole calendars, notes across systems. I know that Exchange has security blocks so okay not that one but why can't I move all my old yahoo syncing contacts to my iCloud etc
