do most people who make an app make their money back?

i was thinking about making an app and was wondering if it would be worth it to spend the money to make it. I was just wondering if most people who make an app actually make a profit or if they just get a little bit of it back?

If you're app isn't a piece of crap, and you know how to market it, you'll make back what you paid.
