Do non Apple Watch bands fit?

I'm looking at a refurbished series 8 or 9 watch and the band they come with are just the sport band and there is no option to vary the band choice.
I noticed that there are lots of much cheaper watch bands available for Apple Watches than what apple charges, but will they fit correctly?
If they are compatible with a series of watch sizes, how can they fit a specific watch size perfectly?

Yes, they fit correctly. Just make sure you get the right ones for the size of the Apple Watch, the 38-41mm bands fit the smaller watches and the 42-45mm fit the larger ones generally.

Personally, I prefer the Apple ones as they fit better on my wrists.

Yes absolutely!

I use Ultimal straps for my AWU2; as does my brother and my Mum's fitted one to her AW9 as well

Made really well and not expensive at all

The sport loop style seems like it would offer the best adjustment fit compared to the sport bands and the solo loop styles that have just a stretchy band or strap eyeholes at selected intervals.
