love this feature (which should be standard anyway) but wish you could do the following.

-block texts also instead of just voice/facetime
-allow certain people from your phonebook (not just favorites)
-modify repeated calls to how many rings before they let it through
-multiple schedules (like mon-fri, then different times on the weekends)

just kind of a bit shocked it is so basic at this point into IOS

agree/disagree/discuss?

agree with most of that, especially the scheduling.

the first point though. you wouldn't really want it to block texts would you? notifications (including text notifications) are suppressed with DND on, so that's good enough isn't it? If you actually want to block texts, that's another feature, which does also exist.

I would expect to see some of your recommendations implemented in iOS 8, such as the scheduling and repeated calls customization. It would be another "feature" for Apple to tout during it's release.

Not sure what you mean by this. What about it is currently not-standard? Care to elaborate?

I just meant that every phone now days should have this feature built in (pretty sure Android has had this feature for a long time and I believe IOS just added this in IOS7)

DND, means you don't want to be disturbed by anything in those hours, so if you are getting texts/sound notifications you are then being disturbed IMO.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but you can set the "Allow Calls From" group to any group in your contacts (in Settings>Do Not Disturb>Allow Calls From)

well you're not getting notifications with DND, that's what I just said. they silently arrive at the phone. what exactly are you suggesting that's different to now, i don't understand?

Something else that might be useful as far as DND is having the ability to pick various apps that would allow notifications to get through, beyond just calls from some people or everyone (like Messages, or Skype, etc.), as mentioned in a similar recent thread at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1722157/

----------

to block text sounds/or mute the sound notification
DND already blocks text notifications as it only allows for calls to get through if you set that up, or basically nothing to get through.

Text and notification sounds are silenced/blocked when in DnD. I use it nightly just for that reason. Obviously I still get the text just the phone doesn't light up or make any noises.

My DND has blocked notifications from 9 texts since last night...

I was surprised that it wasn't updated in iOS7

Scheduling by day, or at least a different schedule for the weekend surely isn't to mush to ask?

Or maybe all Apple employees work 7 days a week....

That part wasn't updated (unfortunately) but DND did get some updates in iOS 7, like the ability to have it enabled while the phone is unlocked as well as locked (or just when it's locked, like before).
