I downloaded Safari 4 beta onto my Window's Vista computer and it's a lot less stable.
Opening stuff in new Windows doesn't work, just gives me a little box with no text or options other than to close the window.
The same thing happens when I try to Safari with multiple tabs open.
Safari three had never crashed on my and it was perfect.

I've done one install of Vista on my significant other's office Dell laptop and I said I would never do it again. Safari and iTunes never worked and I couldn't even print wirelessly or while plugged into the USB ports. I had her take into BB's Dork Squad and bill her office...

Safari 4 works wonderfully in both OS X and Windows 7 for me.

Sorry that you had a botched install for some reason.:(

Huh. Strange. Maybe this is just Windows Vista being, well Windows Vista.

Actually Tallest Skil, you're one of the main reasons I downloaded Safari 4 since I had often heard you compliment it and say it was more stable than Safari 3.

Well, cool. I remember the days of Safari 3... heck, I remember the days of Safari 1.2 on 10.2.8 :p Crash City, U.S.A., I'm telling you...

The only Apple software that runs fine on windows is itunes and quicktime
Safari on Windows is absolutely crap. Buggy as heck. slows down the entire computer and frequent freezes. this is to all of the versions. So to answer your question, just forget about using safari entirely and use something like firefox

Duff-Man says...ah yes, the old "I had an issue so nobody should try it" syndrome...sheesh, it is BETA...having an issue does not mean people should not use it. Did it corrupt your whole system and delete all your files???

Yes, saying there may be stability issues with a beta release and how it affected your system is valid but if there was not any catastrophic failure or data loss then the hyperbole is not really needed...as with any beta, use with caution - enough said...oh yeah!

I don't know why this thread is still being posted in.
I made this when I had the developers preview.
Now I have the beta and it's perfect, never had it crash.

Because a newbie didn't bother to look at the last date that it was posted in, and assumed that it was a thread that was still being discussed. ;)

Good to hear that things worked out for you though!

I've been running it a little on XP and haven't had a problem. All I've really done is listen to MLB games, but still... sorry you haven't had good luck.

Edit: Oh no! I've been tricked into posting in an old thread!

I have been running it on XP... and I have had no problems... I would suspect that it is something to do with the graphics on your computer making it crash... The Topsites view/Graphic Bookmarks take up a lot of GPU Power.. so I don't really know.... I have it in a VM!! And it has not problems.. Bearing in mind that I give it 2 Cores and 8GB's of RAM!!
