Do not have permission?

I am trying to update my iTunes to 10.5 but when I try and install the update, it tells me that I do not have permission. What gives?

you are not the administrator...

but, I am the administrator. There are no other users on this computer. How can I check and make sure that I am the administrator though? just to be sure I didn't somehow log onto a guest user...

Click Apple Icon-->Click "System Preferences"-->Click on "Accounts"-->Will say Admin below your user account name if you are.
