Do Not Want To Install Update?

I do not use Safari. When Auto Notifications advises me of an update to Safari, how do I cause the "small red #1" in the Task Bar to go away and ignore it, without updating?

Even if you never use Safari as a browser, Mac OS uses it for rendering things, and you may have potential security risks if you don't update. It is worth doing the updates.
