Only just got back to apple with my new device the air 2..thinking of when I get the 6 plus S to start from backup.

What do you normally do with your devices? From iphone to ipad? Backup of start fresh?

I have used backups on my iPhones and iPads for years. Never had a problem. Even though I back up to the cloud, I also do a full backup on my desktop via iTunes each month, encrypted, so I can carry all my health data over if I had to use it.

You will LOVE the Air 2, my favorite!

Enjoy

From a backup.

My iPhone 5 was the first iPhone I bought myself. I restored everything from my 3GS to it. When it was replaced two months after launch I restored from backup to the new phone. Same thing last year when it was replaced again.

This year my iPhone 6+ was restored from backup from the iPhone 5.

So about 4.5 years worth of data for me.

Some people swear by starting fresh, but that seems really inconvenient to me. When I get a new device, I want a quick and easy transition. I've so far gone iPhone 3Gs --> 5s --> 6, always restoring from backup, with absolutely no problems.

I start fresh with iPhones. But I generally restore my data for iPads because have too many things to start over with.

yeah it's awesome

amazing tablet...so smooth.

No iPhone here, but I always start fresh, both with phones and computers. I don't have any backups outside a handful of critical files.

When it comes to new devices and new ios version I always start up fresh.
I sync over my contacts from my computer and then transfer my apps, music and pics.
I don't like to save 4 year old text conversations, emails or other old items and my phone always runs nice and bug free when setup clean.

I always restore from backup because it's so convenient. All your settings are restored. It even downloads all your podcasts, songs and videos (iTunes purchases).

I have always restored from backups, even jailbreaking. I have never started new on anything. I still have text messages going back to 2007.

i used to restore from a back up on my iPad and one day i decided to start from new putting the same apps on it and my device had like 10 GB more of free space  shows how much crap stocks up the device over the years

I backup to iTunes then restore new phone from that backup.

Started that way with my 4S, then 5, 5S, now 6. No issues
