With iOS on iPhone, iPad or Mac OS, using iMessages, what happens on an iPad or Mac when someone sends a text message to your iPhone? Does the text come through and show on the iPad or Mac?

Thanks.

With iOS 8 and Yosemite, the texts will show on all of your devices/computers.

1. Can you also respond to the text on all of your devices?

2. If so, does it go through iMessages somehow or is it routed through the carrier? In other words, if I need to send a message to someone not using an iPhone, like an Android without iMessages, how does it send it?

Thanks.
