Does anyone know if any of the new iMacs have intel quick sync video.

This is hardware based video transcoding, which debuted with the sandy bridge line of chips.

It looks like a real quantum leap foward....

Does anyone know if the iMacs have this capability?

I believe the i7 2600 should.

My question is, is this technology present in the i7 iMac? I've spent a fair bit of time on google, and have not found an answer.

If you assume that the i7 2600 is the same as the i7 2600 in any other desktop, then the answer is yet. But I don't know that it is...

I'm not worried so much about the software, as that will improve with time. I want to make sure the hardware isn't limiting.

Then the answer is yes then. Its just like any old i7 2600

This is great news.

BTW, 8765... it's nice to see words like "Quantum Leap" instead of the [wildly overused] "Epic".

You must be smart.
