Not too sure what that dot was for in the first place but I can say that it was not on my iPhone 6 charger brick nor was it on my Apple Watch charging brick. All of which were purchased within the year.

Ok. It was there because the prongs were coming out of some several years ago and they had a recall. They added the dot so customers knew their brick was safe.
I remember the recall from a couple of years ago. The prongs would remain in the outlet but part of the brick would come out giving way for electrocution, which would result in serious harm or death. The green dot was to show the the unit was a Rev B, which had resolved the issue.
I was shocked(pun) to see that my 6s+ charger didn't have the green dot. Guess it's been long enough for it not to be an issue???
