Do they sync your iPhones?

When you purchase your iPhone 4 from an Apple store will they transfer your contacts from your old iPhone to the new iPhone and will it work right when you leave?

I'll be out of town so unless I take my laptop with me and sync our phones they won't work correct? Or am I just confused

If you need you contacts, calendars, music, etc. then yes.
