They always talk people out of buying iphone's. Everytime i'm in the store without fail.

Think about how hard they push those accessories; I heard that for every accessory they sell with a new phone, they get like 30%.

I don't know if that's true, but there's some reason they're pushing them so hard.

The push them so hard because it's the accessory sales that pay the bills. The definitely don't make any money on the sale of the phone -- especially an iPhone.

It wouldn't surprise me on the commission percentage you quoted...

Well with AT&T I worked in the call center and we got 30% accessories. Sell $100 worth of accessories and get $30. It's easier to sell in stores though. Personally my bread and butter was activations and data plans. Cingular paid 100% feature attach rate. AT&T came along and lowered it to 25% though.

Correct. The actual phone didn't matter. iPhone. Droid. Blackberry. Makes no difference to me. What matters is what type of plans you get (voice/data) get the cheapest plan with no features, I made next to nothing. Get unlimited minutes and a 5 line family plan with data on each.....I could get a couple hundred dollars.

But the actual phone itself pays ZERO ha

Accessories certainly didn't pay the bills. Activations and features pay it. But AT&T has a metric you have to meet every month. You are required to sell X amount of accessories. You fail to meet the metric in 3 consecutive months....goodbye.

Verizon Wireless employees do not take home 30% of an accessory sale. They get credit for 25% of the sales dollar value of the accessory, which goes to their sales dollar quota each month.

In terms of actual dollars and cents, an accessory sale puts a few cents into a sales rep pay check.

They are highly scrutinized on their accessory take rate however and their average accessory revenue amount per device sold
