I bought my mac some times ago (late 2011 model) but I did not get any CDs with it. I have heard that the Lion is being distributed digitally only. Are they supposed to provide a Lion CD with the macbook pro ?

Not really needed.
Btw, where does your link go? It seems like the military shop/section, not the actual Lion thumb drive.

Do 4 GB USB flash memory thumb drives really cost that much? In Germany they get thrown into the bargain bin and are sold for sometimes only 5 €.

if your mac comes pre installed you still have to by the 29.99 version so you can make a bootable version

You don't really need one. Almost of all the 2011 Macs now or will have the ability to do Internet recovery

if we install a different version (newer) of OS X then the recovery partition would be gone? If then we won't be able to come back to lion unless we have a installation disc?

As far as I have seen in other, similar threads, you will have two recovery partitions and two OS X partitions.

Thanks for the information.

the answer is already in your question

Thanks for the reply. Recently I saw an unboxing video of a macbook pro and I saw that there were 2 discs in the package. And this question came to my mind as I heard about the Mountain Lion OS.

digital only could really suck for some people. when i first got my apartment i had no cash whatsoever for an internet connection. I didnt have one for 6 months. I would go to the bakery every day and sip coffee there while surfing the net for a few hours and then go home.

that could have really sucked if i needed a reinstall and had no internet. i wouldnt want to be trying to do that at the bakery.

Thanks for the information.

They may of been Drop in disks? I"m not sure if Apple EVER put Lion on disks though...

Then they might be some other discs. The video was about a 15" MBP. Mine is 17. All I got with my mac was two manuals, warranty information printed and some Apple stickers.

Apple does not put out discs that have Lion. The video was about a Snow Leopard or older model.
