So now that the Unibodies are MBP, do we merge the MB and MBP forums again?

I was just thinking this not more than 5min ago. Now that the UMB is a 13" UMBP, should they merge, or will it be considered an MB for the sake of forum tidiness?

I think the real divider has always been more along the lines of the size of the laptop. It might make sense to have a 15" forum and a 13" forum. On the other hand, that sounds confusing just thinking about it.

It makes more sense now to merge the forums than at any other time. Just consider that the volume of traffic in the forum will be much higher.

Won't work. Guys are always lying about their size. :D

Does that mean that the 13" "pros" are still in this forum? Or is this one just for the whitebooks now?

I rarely post in the MBP forum, I'd say 99% of my posts have been in this one. Not sure why, perhaps I'll start to lay down some knowledge over there now too. :p

Haha, same, I have the 'Macbook, iBook' bookmark in my toolbar and I occasionally go over to Mac Community... I think I'd get SO confused if I used lots of other forums. I'd probably waste my life away ;)

Same, I was originally only MBP then decided what hell, why not go over the MB's!

I think it's already too late for me. Like I said, was only in the MBP forum and decided knowledge could be applied to the MacBook and even the iMac so I have all 3 in the Bookmark bar. In 4 months, I'm almost up to 1000 posts...my life has gone to my Mac and it's forums :(

What about making a Laptop [basics] forum, and a laptop [advanced] forum.

I think it's fairly obvious that Apple's "pro" machines aren't really pro anymore, but people are still going to have basic and advanced questions no matter what.

Or we could do a macbook Unibody, macbook, and macbook Air forums.

The unibodies are all about the same, as are the macbook (non unibodies, just 2 types, Al and Black/White, and the airs are all airs....

Actually, that might make the most sense, as least for Apple's current lineup. There's no other easy way to differentiate between the MBP 15" with dedicated graphics and the MBP 15" with integrated..

I vote to merge. People with multiple portables (like me) have to check both forums. I can live with that, but where do you post "should I get a refurb uMB or a 13" MBP?" or a review comparing those two (not to mention, the rev. C MBA)? There will be many threads like this.

Primejimbo just had a good idea in the poll thread about just this topic.

Just make this forum Macbook/Macbook Pro 13", iBook...

I like it!

I mean, I know other than firewire, upped processor, and express card slot, they're still the same, but WOULD the old UMB's be considered pros like the new ones? lol, I don't think I'd feel....right calling it a pro when it just says Macbook on the screen :p.

There's no ExpressCard slot on the new 13" UMBP's, just an SD-slot.

Why would they merge? There still is a WhiteBook. I would think that the old uMB users would just jump over the Pro forum?

Macbooks should be in a macbook forum, MBP's should be in the macbook pro forum. Simple as that, I don't see why there is confusion. You still have the black, white, and unibody macbooks to have a forum, including the iBook. The MBP forum will just have a new 13" addition. :D

That makes no sense. It's the 13" MB with a FW800 port slapped on, and an audio-in jack removed/combined with the audio out jack.

You're a good poster, don't get all "Pro-and-mighty" on us little MacBook peons now :p

I would just keep the names as is.

The new 13" MBP has many more similar features as the MBP line rather than the regular macbook. Integrated battery, screens, backlit keyboard.

I would imagine that the Macbook Pro section of this forum will be super crowded.
