I know att was preferred for iPhone users years ago and I don’t know whether the features are the same now.

I’m leaving visible wireless and was considering Verizon or mint prepaid, just asking if some carriers are preferred for iPhone users. I don’t use much data.

before when you can only get qualcomm model from verizon and sprint, but the 11s all have intel so whichever carrier has best coverage for ur area.

It wasn't that AT&T was preferred, it was that Apple and AT&T had an exclusive contract for a number of years where they were the only carrier (in US) that carried iPhones.

Visible is Verizon.

There is no “preferred carrier” for iPhone. Pick the one that has best coverage for the areas you traverse at a price you feel comfortable paying.
Visible is owned by Verizon and uses Verizon's towers but the service level is not the same.

I got a Visible SIM to test out since I was thinking of switching but throttling can be an issue if you're in a congested area.

Just a few weeks ago, I was at the grocery and even with 3-4 bars, pages were timing out on Visible. Switched to Verizon postpaid and that one still had good speeds (10-15 Mbps). I've also run a few speed tests at work. Around 6-8 AM, everything's great. I get same speed on both. Later in the day, Visible is down to 2-7 Mbps down while Verizon's still logging 20+ Mbps.

As for preferred carriers, if you want all features (Visual Voicemail, Wi-Fi calling, NumberSync for Apple Watch, Personal Hotspot, eSIM, etc), you probably want one of the Big Three or their subsidiaries. A lot of MVNOs don't support all of the features that the main carriers do.

I recommend Verizon. It has excellent coverage in my experience. I’d never go back to using another carrier. AT&T was almost there but had holes in coverage. I have friends with t-mobile and they can’t get reception inside buildings sometimes. Verizon works when I’m driving in the middle of nowhere when no other carrier does. Excellent for traveling around the US.

I traveled the US for work and I found that you can not find a better carrier than Verison. It's worth the extra bucks for their service. If you never leave home, no problem. If you travel out of State then I recommend Verizon.

I recommend the one that has the best service in the area you will be using it the most. I have Verizon but ATT is "typically" better in my area. Not 100% better but generally has better/faster coverage.

Also goto...

This list Apple features directly supported by Carriers. For example not all carriers support VoLTE and/or Wifi Calling. Those features maybe very useful for you.

Good luck.

If HD voice is important to you, only Verizon and AT&T have true interoperability with each other. T-Mobile usually works with AT&T but not all the time, and does not work at all with Verizon. If both callers have iPhones then it matters less, as you can use FaceTime Audio which is fantastic.

Impossible to tell someone which carrier to get. Go with whoever works. I swore off AT&T many years ago due to congestion issues and recently just switched back after many years with Verizon and a trial on T-Mobile. In my area Verizon is running into congestion issues and isn't in the best shape re: spectrum holdings compared to AT&T.

I think this depends more on where you live and which provider has the best signal. I had AT&T in Florida and had horrible service at home and some at work. I switched to Sprint and it was great, moved to another state and again I have horrible signal at work, at home is okay though lol.

It all depends on on where you live and what service you can get. My wife works for AT&T and we could get a great discount but the service in our area is terrible. We are with Verizon just due to better service. It will be based on which provider has the best service.

It's not great everywhere. I am not a Verizon customer (I'm on T-Mobile), but every time I have a service tech come to my house that cannot get service I ask what carrier they are on and so far I've been told "Verizon".

My area is a black hole for Verizon customers. They actually have to leave the general area before they can pick up service. This is very strange to me because I live in a large housing community next to two major streets and a ballpark. I'm not in the boonies.

So, yeah, Verizon doesn't work everywhere.

I think you are the exception and not the rule. Every carrier is going to have some holes in coverage but overall Verizon is a lot stronger.

Of course if you live in a Verizon coverage hole then it won't make sense to get Verizon.

But if you try to travel cross country with t-mobile and you're with somebody who has Verizon, guess who's phone is going to work most of the time?

I believe you are responding to me, so I will just say, I had no idea there was a hole. I was a Sprint customer from 1999-2015 and I've been a T-Mobile customer since 2015. We also moved into this area two years ago from a place that's only a couple of miles away.

Verizon was never a consideration and since I've never been on Verizon I had no way of knowing there's a hole in that carrier's coverage in my location. It's only because the service people came by that I found out. It doesn't affect me at all.

But, overall, Verizon seems to have the most built out network. That I agree with. I'm just not one of their customers.

Valid points. I considered Visible but was not interested in being capped at slow speeds.

Visible only caps hotspot use. Speeds are the same as Verizon postpaid as long as the towers aren't too busy. In times of congestion though, network deprioritization sucks majorly.
