In the time that I've had my MBP, I haven't calibrated my battery. My battery life still seems great. So I'm wondering, do YOU calibrate your battery?

"No, and it doesn't seem to make a difference/impact"

How would someone no if they've never tried it??!!??

We're missing an extra option:

"I've tried it for a while, stopped, and haven't noticed any major differences."

I assume this is inferred by option no.2

Yes, I do calibrate my battery, but I have not noticed any change in my battery life whatsoever, but I try to "calibrate" my battery once a month. But, as I said, I've never noticed any increase in performance.

I did when I first buy my notebooks then I do it once a month. It's not hard. Drain it before you to go to bed and let it be while you sleep. Does it make a difference? 4 years later my original PB battery is still strong.

This is where I am heading. I unplug my MBP from the charger at least everyday and I let the battery drain completely before charging it back up.

I notice a LARGE difference since I still get about four hours of life with it using Aperture.

How long have you been doing that? Do you really unplug your MacBook EVERY day?

I calibrated my last MacBook but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I calibrated my last MacBook but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I did it with my 15" for a year and a half, then my 17" for 6 months.

I unplug it everyday since i usually use it away from my desk everyday. The guy I sold my MBP to hasn't done any calibration, and now he says he needs a new battery. Don't know if it's an ordinary thing for both books, but I notice a difference when calibrating/draining and recharging your battery as often as I can.

All I know is that I don't calibrate mine, and my battery health is <60% now after 10 months.

I've had my MBP since June 08 and have calibrated the battery twice. From what I've noticed, it does make a difference. I do it every 3 or 4 months, the battery has had 80 cycles and still holding from 3 to 4 hours with both bluetooth and wifi on..

My battery health is 95% after 3 cycles :(

It's usually plugged in. I thought I calibrated it when I got it - I charged it, let it run down to nothing, then charged it back up. It was 99% health then, now 95%.

This is my first laptop - any advice?

I've only calibrated my battery when I notice that the numbers are totally off. Probably in a few more months, actually...

I calibrate it once in a while, and I really don't pay enough attention to how long it lasts between charges. Honestly, as long as I can get at least four hours out of it and it functions properly, I could care less.

I caibrate, I think it helps, but I can't prove it. I'm guessing Apple has some good reason to recommend it.

That very likely means a defective battery. I didn't really calibrate mine, and it got to that level after about the same amount of time, too. I took it to the Genius Bar. They ran a test on it, determined it was bad, and replaced it under warranty.

Note that I did calibrate it before I took it in, and it didn't help at all. My battery life was around 2 hrs when I took it in to get it checked.

I find if I don't calibrate for a long time (which is often) my computer will shut off all together at like 20-30%. I have to wait a few hours then turn it back on and let it run until 0% and it falls asleep normally. SMC reset makes no difference. Odd behavior I don't appreciate. So I should calibrate more often.
