On a phone, if you know one has higher download speed and the other has higher upload speed than download speed, which one would you prefer?

Every phone has adequate speed for everything I do. I don’t sweat the details beyond that. LTE is just fast everywhere I go.

I'm pretty sure all internet service has higher download speeds than upload speeds. I'm my case, they are like 6mbps and .6mbps for DSL and 18mbps and 12mbps LTE.

Compared to current speeds? Faster uploads.

What good is more download bandwidth as long as we're plagued by rapacious data caps?

It depends on what you do most. If you're always uploading videos to YouTube, the upload speed is more important. Nowadays, all movies will stream with a 8Mbps connection, so having FIOS 150 Mbps download speed (or even 50) isn't going to help that.

If you can get 20 down & 10 up, that's plenty good. Typical cable connection.
