I like having the best available, and it's cheap to upgrade if you sell your old one in good condition. One year I even made a profit by upgrading :)

Yes, same for iPads. I don't do it without MacBooks, though.

Yes. Partly to get the new features, partly so I can pass on relatively new hardware to family members.

I expect I'll buy the next several iPads. After that maybe every other one. At this point I update the MBP about every three years though this time I will switch to an iMac and just use the iPad for travel.

I've had the 3GS, skipped the 4, now have a 4S. Depending on the next release, I may or may not skip it and wait for the follow-up device.

I went from my super slow and beaten to crap 3GS to a new 4S. I probably will get the 5 depending on the price and how much I can sell my 4s for.

I upgrade yearly. It's one of my guilty pleasures I guess. Selling the previous model usually has me break even as I buy one phone on contract one year, and one phone off contract. I recently started using the upgrade of another line on our family plan. She only wants a flip phone and if she ever needs a new one I will just pay the $50 out of pocket.

Nope. I go every other generation, right along with the AT&T contracts.

So I went iPhone --> iPhone 3GS --> iPhone 4S --> whatever iPhone in 2013.

I don't. I bought the iPhone 4 on its first day and still have it. I might get the next one depending on its features.

I have upgraded my iPhone on day 1 of each new release. I am just the type of person that likes having the very latest product offered. I'm actually using an HTC One X now because I got bored with my 4s. I'm pretty sure I'll get the next iPhone on day one, but I'll wait for the official announcement before making that decision.

The 4S was my first iPhone, but I wanted one since the first generation, I will be taking my moms phone upgrade for the new iPhone, but after that I am sticking to a 2 year upgrade cycle

My first iPhone that I owned was iPhone 3G, and have upgraded to every generation till the 4S. I think I will hold out on this one. I plan to keep my 4S until it dies then I will use my upgrade (most likely in 3-4 years)

It's stupid not to

At least with my AT&T plan, I get the $200 price every 15 months. I upgraded my 4 to a 4s and sold the 4 on eBay for $350. How can you beat an upgrade that pays you $150 to do? Even if the phone wasn't upgraded, it would be worth it for a new battery! There's tons of people on eBay looking for recent models and I've sold a couple of 4 s within minutes of posting. Even better now is that AT&T will unlock the old phones which makes them more attractive to T-Mobile and non-U.S. buyers.
