I personally feel making a $10 or $20 with each release is very well deserved. Both for the time of the devs, but also to support them with hardware for testing.

With that, yes, I do put my money where my mouth is.

Do you?

When it's the first initial jailbreak for a device (like Absinthe for my new 4S), I donate $10.

With subsequent updates I tip $5.

Although since I'm buying a new iPad 3 tomorrow I'll be tipping them $10 this time around for 5.1.1 :D

Indeed, they got $10 for my new 4S because it shipped with 5.1 :D

Not only do I donate to the jailbreak devs, but I also support all of the developers of hacks tweaks and mods by purchasing their products legitimately through Cydia approved repos. I often will buy a theme, use it for two or three days to test it out, and then remove it unless it's a real keeper (few and hard to find, especially with 5.0.1 and Winterboard lag being an issue frequently.)

I have no qualms letting them keep my money, to encourage further progress and development. Betcha I've blown $200 or more on a dollar here, two or three dollars there purchases.

If you can afford a $500 phone (at the minimum) then you can afford to throw these guys $20-$30 at the very least for all the work they do for free! I donated $30 for Absinthe 1 and I'll do the same again (hopefully tomorrow)!!

It's called a "donation" for a reason....and someone should donate whatever amount they can or choose to. Just because you donate $30, it doesn't mean that the next person should as well. It's personal preference.

Also the iPhone is NOT $500 (on a 2-yr contract). SMH.

It is at least $500, but you pay in monthly increments through your contract.

Besides that, i have donated for all JB's i used from STAR onwards.

Yea, most people don't comprehend how cell plans actually work and that new iPhones do not in fact cost $200. I stand by what I said, if you can afford a $500 PHONE then you can definitely afford to give the devs $20-$30 for a jailbreak.

You can't seem to comprehend that paying $500 over two years is not the same as paying it upfront.

If you mortgage a $400,000 house, than you can definitely afford to buy a Porsche...(your logic)
