I usually carry my iPhone X in my left back pocket. I didn't have problems with previous phones wearing that out but the X is eating up my jeans' pockets. It's worn through a few pairs of new jeans in just over a year. Granted I get in and out of a lot of cars but I did the same thing with other phones.

Anyone else have this problem?

Left back pocket while in and out of cars? How is that even comfortable?

I don't even notice is. I've used the front pocket to try to save my rear. That's noticeable!

So you want to know if its just you, not why. We know 'why'. But you may be alone on this :D

Using a back pocket for a phone always floors me, as much sense as keeping it balanced on your head. I’ve never understood how this can end in anything other than a broken and/or stolen phone.

My work pants and jeans have heavy imprints of my 7 plus. It is due to tighter fit of modern style pants.

I used to get wear marks in my jeans where my phone had been in my front right pocket, over time this would lead to holes/rips, it was because my jeans were tight, when I sat etc the jean would stretch and wear a little where my phone was in my pocket, since getting new larger jeans I no longer have this issue.

Only one of my jeans has shown this issue over the years and that jeans is not tight at all. I think it depends on the material as well to some extent.

Yes I agree with this also, some of my older jeans were thin, these ended up with wear marks first, while the thicker type never shown any signs of wear even though they were tight like the others.

I've been carrying my iPhone in my back pocket since the beginning. Even through Bendgate (iPhone 6). I've never had a problem with the phone. The iPhone 6 would eventually wear away at the pocket but that took a long time. The iPhone X has eating a few pockets since last year.

[doublepost=1539086718][/doublepost]I should also note both I use an Otterbox case on this phone. I also had one on my iPhone 6. Don't know if this has something to do with it.

I don't get the huge issue people have with the back pocket. It's my nominal choice for where I put my phones. Have yet to have an issue from sitting on phones. The only time I've ever had an issue with any device was my first gen iPod Touch that rotated it's way sideways in my back pocket and I sat down on the edge of a ceramic chair and when I got up the glass cracked when I shifted my weight so I've learned to put it to muscle memory to remove my device before I sit down on harder surfaces but on soft stuff like car seats and office chairs there are no issues and even in on harder surfaces I haven't had that issue since and don't expect one unless the device is leaning partially off the edge of course. From a seated position it's harder for me to get my phone out of my front pocket as the pocket is naturally trying to close itself while the rear pocket lets me lean slightly to the side and get my phone.

On the topic though, no I've never noticed my jeans wearing more with the X. Do you have a case on it? I use Spigen Tough Armor's for all devices and generally there's a phone in the same back left pocket for about 7 hours of the day with plenty of sitting down, getting up, and walking around and haven't seen any tearing. I used to have issues like this but it was from my wallet which I got rid of after Samsung Pay MST hit phones.

It's most likely tearing at the bulge point where the length of the phone fulcrums on your body when you're articulating from different positions, likely getting up from lower seats.

Yes, I use an Otterbox case. The phone is probably being pushed down every time I sit down and get up so that’s wearing away at the material. This rip was just starting a few weeks ago so it didn’t take long to get to this point once it started to break through.

Ahh okay yeah that could be it. The rubber and thickness of the Otterbox causes enough friction to give it accelerated wear.
