I was wondering if you could order the iPhone 5 on the Apple site for the full discounted price now, and wait until you receive it to activate it. Given that shipping is 3-4 weeks anyway, I would probably be eligible for the full discounted upgrade when it arrives.

Or do I need to wait until my exact full discounted upgrade eligibility date before even ordering the phone?

I imagine if you call your carrier they would understand and pre-order you one for your eligibility date. Can't imagine you're going to have any luck with the website.
