Do you have to use genuine Apple bricks/leads to achieve Fast Charging?

If you got a 3rd party 18w charger, and had a non-Apple USB>Lightning cable, can you fast charge an iPhone with that? Or will it only work with original Apple stuff?

It'll work with any USB PD charger with 9V support.

Power Delivery. In the beginning I tested, and no non Apple cables would fast charge. More recently, the Anker cables would fast charge, but I don't know about any other non Apple.
