Just wondering how many of you keep your screen orientation locked most of the time! I have mine locked to Landscape mode (home button on the left) all the time. I hardly get out of this mode. Applications that do not support this mode automatically use Portrait mode so I never have to bother unlocking/switching.

I also have mine locked in landscape most of the time. Whether the home button is on the left or right generally depends on if I'm using headphones or just the built-in speaker.

I always keep mine unlocked unless I'm reading something in iBooks/Safari. In those cases I lock the orientation to however I'm reading it that way if I shift positions, my screen doesn't go all over the place.

I find portrait to be easier to type on and read websites on, feels like a magazine or something. I always have mine locked this way.

I use it in landscape unless an app only works in portrait (I hate that!), but I only lock it in bed.

i keep it unlocked.

read pdfs, ibooks, magazines in portrait mode, movies and web-browsing in landscape mode. i do temporary lock it in portrait when i use it during my commute since my hand position changes a lot. i have the rotation lock configured to a simple gesture (one of the advantages of JBing) so it's very easy to toggle the lock.

Mine is almost always locked in portrait mode which is why I can't wait for the new split keyboad in iOS 5, because typing in portrait mode is a mess.

Need more options

For me I'm really about equal in all 3 options, wholly dependent on the App. Didn't vote... and I love to vote in MR polls :)

the split keyboard was mainly designed to assist users who have their tablet in landscape mode and use both thumbs to type. i don't think you're going to find a major benefit if are going to use it in portrait mode.

Really? Why do I think I saw a video of someone using it to type with their thumbs in portrait mode? Can anyone running a developer version of iOS 5 confirm or deny this? Thanks.

The split keyboard in iOS 5 is best in portrait mode because you can use two thumbs. I have it in front of me.

Split keyboard works in both landscape and portrait mode.

I keep mine unlocked. I like mail and most websites in landscape, but Reeder I prefer to portrait. I don't find it a hindrance to rotate it in my hands...

always locked; but depend on location and apps used:

e.g. Safari portrait-locked;
mail, mind mapper, Numbers, hulu mainly landscape-locked
