1/8" inch male jack goes into microphone jack and lights up with red LED when computer/laptop is on.

What is this?

Is this a microphone?

Is this a tester of some sort?

Is this for hacking?

It's an IR Blaster. It's not supposed to be plugged into an audio jack. They're used with video capture devices or home theater controllers to control things like cable tuners.
