This idea just came to my mind...

Do you think is better to let the machine to cool down some minutes before close the lid and pack the machine and go?.

Heat expand the materials and could cause loose elements?

No because it would have no effect on the laptop what so ever!

If you're that paranoid then do the chicken dance to ward off evil spirits that may attack your computer.

I feel like this forum is full of mostly sane people, so no. No one waits for their machine to cool off before moving it, because they fear loose elements.

I worry about it.
When I take my MBP on the road, I usually pack it in an Igloo cooler surrounded by icepacks.

That generally helps.

I close the lid and go. BUT if I put my MBP in my backpack or im traveling and its inclosed in something I shut it down. I don't want to risk some bluetooth device waking it and cause it to burn up in its case or my backpack. I don't think you have to let it cool down before packing it up. Even if Apple said to do that 95% of Apple laptop owners wouldn't do it...

I figure pretty much all heat production stops when it goes to sleep. Hell, when I'm leaving class, I often don't bother to let it finish writing the safesleep image before stowing it away in my bag.

That's true, just shut it down, that's what I do...

How much are people paying for their Macs? I guess I never pay the full price, but even if I did, I would still treat it like a computer. I am careful enough to not abuse it, but little scratches, dents and minor wear and tear does not bother me....if it did, I would buy something cheap so I can replace it.

Your laptop isn't going to get any hotter if you close it. Close it and go. It's built to work at those temperatures.
