I found out that the app list radically changed in WatchOS10 (the old “hexagon” I mean), so I would like to start a poll (didn’t see it yet in case I missed I’ll close this) if you like the new way or prefer the old one.

I like it better, but at the same time, it is still not very useful. I am not sure, what a better solution might look like. I liked the Dock, but they did away with it or hid it behind a three-time Digital Crown click. And I have not yet warmed up with the Smart Stack. Especially, because it is not possible to have different Smart Stacks for different Watch Faces - at least I think. Filed a feature request for that.

Absolutely yes! Now I organize my apps from frequently used to less used and finally I can find the app I want without moving my finger in circles over and over.

I like it better, but with this caveat, the dock is gone.
I never used the app view in OS9. I had it set to list.
But, with the removal of the dock that can be set to favorite apps vs recent, I now use the app view.
I have my favorite apps moved to the top and now a single crown click brings that list up, and I can easily get to the apps I need.

Way better IMO!

I hated the old hexagon view. is what I want up, down, left, right? How did I sort them? media down or right? Health to left or up? Can’t remember and a pain to manage.

The alphabetical list view IMO was awful because of all the scrolling.

So I for years I resorted to using the dock in favorites view. Great for 3 apps, but required more scrolling for 4+ apps.

The new grid new is more easily manageable, and I wish I had thought of limiting the width in previous watchOSs! Direct access to all of my <=17 most common apps with a button press and one tap.

I dislike the change but I also agree with you ;-)

Let me put it this way: with the old hexagon design, I have arranged my apps into geographic sections so I can find like items. For instance, health/sports related tracking apps are all to the right of the Clock app; Audio related apps are to the upper right of Clock; News and Weather are to the upper left of clock, etc.

With this new design, I have to totally re-think and re-organize my apps which is a huge pain. But ultimately, I do think when I get to re-organizing, it might be ok.

The problem is that the entire original schema I used to organize stuff is totally not applicable. Whereas the old format was essentially a radiant shape and you could quickly move from Clock to other sections in one swipe or so, the current linear list means that if I put similar apps into the same geographic region, I will have to scroll a lot to get to some regions.

For now, my plan is to put all frequently used apps into the first two screens, and from then on, organize the remaining apps into geographic sections. I still don't really like this approach much though because there can be times when an app goes from frequently used to infrequently used, and another app goes from infrequently to frequently used. I'm not going to keep organizing my list that way!

The previous method (hexagon) was schematically more sensible, but it did take a while to arrange, but once there it seemed pretty useful.
