I have an older MacPro and it doesn't have the new mini display port that the newer apple LED monitors require. I know there is an adapter for mini display to DVI, but i'm wondering if you lose picture/video quality at all by using the adapter?

I'm looking to buy a monitor and I'd just like to know which is more worth it for me to buy- a larger LCD display or the smaller LED. THANKS!:)

Im pretty sure you will get a perfect digital signal. AFAIK display port is just a different shaped DVI.

The quality should be completely unaffected by the transition.

I managed to get a single minidisplayport to DVI cable on ebay, which makes things easier because its just a single connection each end. You could probably find one too.
