Do you need to do something extra for an untethered jailbreak?

I've got an iPod Touch 3rd gen that is jailbroken, however it's only semitethered - I guess that's because it was running 5.1 when I jailbroke it a week or two ago. But I read the other day on MR that there is now an untethered jailbreak for 5.1.1 (which is what my iPhone 4S is running), and I want to know that if I jailbreak my 4S now, will the jailbreak automatically be untethered, or do I have to do something extra to make it untethered? (Sorry, I'm kinda new to jailbreaking )

It will be automatic when you use Absinthe 2.0.1

The Absinthe 2.01 Unteteher is a 1 step deal, nothing further required.

For the 5.1 tether on your touch just install Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 untether, it should work, otherwise just update itouch aswell.

there is no Redsn0w for 5.1.1 right now maybe soon but for now it's Absinthe 2.0.1
