I organize them vertically as it is easier on the eyes to glance up and down rather than side to side. Ones eyes tends to reconize orginization in vertical lines because one has a natural tendency to "read" the horizontal lines rather than observe them as a group.

Also, do you consider putting the apps you use the most closest to your thumb to reduce reaching. This is another reason I go vertical. For example I'm left handed and so I put my most important apps on the left column, the bottom two lines being the most important and the top two spaces being the mildly less important ones

I just organize them by having the ones I use most often on the front page, and then by having a couple of those in specific locations because that's where I'm used to looking for them (camera is always in the top left corner, clock is on the row above the dock & 2nd from left, etc.) I don't pay too much attention to them other than that. If I did, I'd probably go horizontal.

Symetrical.

Imagine a single letter is a "type" of app. Then my screens look something like this:

V B B V
H H H H
H T T H
E G G E

For example, on my home sceen the "G"s on that example are iTunes and the App Store.

The 4 corners and the 4 most important apps for that screen and they are easiest to touch.

"Upper Right" is the most important app on each page.

First I group them i.e. Games,Travel,etc..and I don't know about you but I was taught to read from left to right not up and down:D

^^^Agreed. That's how I have my home screen setup.

The corners are my most used, and obviously the bottom 4.

I've tried organizing them (and sometimes still do) but it gets to be a hassle sometimes, so I just reset the home screen layout whenever I download a new app.

Usually I just have my most used app on the front page or on the dock.

I just make sure my most used apps are on my home screen, besides that it's just wherever they happen to fall. I get used to it as I never really change it so I know where to look to find what I want all the time. No crazy schematics here.

I do neither. I prefer setting up each panel by function. The first page (or panel or what ever you call it) is my most used apps and delivered apps. The second page is for utilities and such and third is for games and light hearted type apps.

Whatever it doesn't really effect me because I go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout

It puts the icons on the first page to default and all the App Store apps in alphabetical order so it doesn't really matter, but it interests me to see how people use certain positions for importance of apps lol.

my home screen is stock, except for cycorder in the bottom right space, and mail and messaging are switched.
the rest of my apps (2 pages) are in alphabetic order.

Never thought about this...

But now I have to come up with a good reason...

I organize horizontally but I would have to say that is due to that is how I read. I have no better reason. :)

my point...

i dont want to have to "read" my apps, I want to be able to glance at them and see the entire row. I feel like it flows better if they are four vertical lines instead of horizontal lines

OP = TheSpaz? Or do we have a new Spaz in town.

ill take that as a compliment

this is my home page, first row is most important (left row) for web browsing etc, second is my school/lifestyle interests, third is organizational/keep track of my life row, and 4th the valuable apps that I use everyday, no real catagory I guess. They are nice and lined and flowing to me instead of off the screen horizontally.
Also I put the most important to the left and near the bottom as I am left handed and it is easiest to reach those areas with minimal thumb movement.

Me too.
Alphabetical works just fine...

Bottom line you say " potata" I say potato:D

Horizontally.

First page is the default apps, some moved, and the most used apps.
Second page is most used apps in alphabetical order.
Third page is apps I sometimes use in alphabetical order.
Fourth page continues off the third page.
Fifth page is games in alphabetical order.

I organize mine like so:

First Page: Most Important Apps.
Second Page: Most Important Utilities, ie. iheartradio, Google, Wikipanion, Open Table, Urban Spoon, Sportacular.
Third Page: Favorite Games
Fourth/Fifth Page: Whatever is left
