I am looking for someone who owns a Mac Studio M4 2025 model who can look at this page in System Settings.
For reasons I don't know, I am missing the option which says "Listen For" under Siri Requests.

I have been on the Phone to Apple support for over 1 hour and they are completely stuck and have run out of suggestions, they even got 2 technicians to log int o my Mac to investigate but cannot understand why the option is not there.
They suggested I re-install the OS which I have done but still the same

This is what I have on my M4 Studio at work. I can check on my home model when I go home at the end of the day...

ive just asked a friend who has Mac Studio M2 using a BenQ Monitor and he does have the option, so this might be related to the M4 Mac Studio, although I am surprised 3 Apple technicians never mentioned that

or it could be your friend as a built in microphone or Webcam in the BenQ Monitor ..

Now the plot thickens... my other friend has a 2020 M1 Mini with No microphone or webcam, just the mini plugged into an old monitor via HDMI and he does have the option

Do you actually have any microphone at all? You don't seem to mention it anywhere; you only say what your friends have.

Are you able to record audio with Quicktime player for instance?

I have a BlueYetti USB Microphone which works fine with all recording applications.
I also have a BT headset which again works with all recording applications

It looks like it needs to be a supported “always on mic” which would be AirPods and Apple Studio Display etc.

Interesting article but how does that explain this...

Here is my old Mac Mini M1

No Microphone attached at all

Have you connected AirPods or any other Apple headphones to that Mac before?

My guess is once the setting is triggered by a device, it doesn’t hide itself again.

I used to own some AirPods which were registered to my Apple Account when I was using this as my main Mac but I never actually used them to listen to audio on the Mac Mini as I just used the internal speakers.

Now whethere the fact that the AirPods were registered on my Apple Account has something to do with it, I'm not sure
