I assure you, you’re far from the only one who does that, haha. It’s understandable that people are into personalizing their gear, MacBooks included. I’m sure some others might share theirs here as well. Personally, I just prefer a clean looking device. When it comes time to resell, there’s no worrying about the potential for glue and bits from stickers to remain behind and try to clean them off.

Nope.

The Apple products often comes with a sticker or two with the Apple logo. Does one know why? I just throw them away when unpacking.

Similar story.... Those stickers reminded me of a customer from about 20 years ago.
A man brought an iBook for service (the old white ones, remember?), which had scribbles all over the case, looked like permanent marker.
I asked him if he wanted me to clean up the case, (there's some cleaning products that might do a good job with markers.)
He said,
No, don't even try. That's my work laptop. I gave it to my kids when it was brand new, gave them a couple of markers, and told them to draw whatever they liked, and as you can see, they had a lot of fun!
Every time I use it, I think of my children, and nobody would think of stealing that marked-up POS!
I quickly decided that I liked his thinking...!

Never have till my M1 MBP this year. Wife added some to her laptop, and so I added to mine. I regret it as I prefer a clean device but ... both my wife and I have a ton of bird/nature stickers on the back of our MBPs. I am not a fan.

I did. When I later gave the MBP back to my work and removed all sticker’s, the space gray anodizing was discolored under every one of them.
Well ****. Space Grey here (though a personal MBP). Guess I'm removing them. lol.

Edit:
Well that's going to need a LOT of Goo Gone. Don't do it unless you're committed !

Never have. Although every once in a while I'm tempted to get a rainbow Apple logo to go over the plain Apple logo on my Macbook Pro. I don't know why I fixate on that rainbow logo. Maybe it's just reminiscing about simpler times.

Not a MBP but I went with stickers on my 2020 i5/8/512 Air. A shelf fell off the wall and dented the lid about 2 months after I bought it. I was so pissed. I decided to cover with a DBrand and a sticker to hide it and then I just added more because I liked the way it looked. I also bought a InCase hard-shell after the incident and also love that too. I bought a M1 Air for the house Air needs, so this is just my traveling Mac now and use it at work on downtime.

1) Apply a piece of car wrap vinyl (a wrap place will usually be happy to part with a piece of scrap the size of your laptop) to the case.
2) Put stickers on that.

when removed, there won’t be any stuck adhesive, and if the anodization fades, it will be uniform.

And you can then either frame the whole thing, or reuse the stickers you like on another piece of vinyl.

The bottom of the machine gets hot when charging. If there's a sticker stuck to the bottom it will bake on permanently and be almost impossible to remove. I've experienced this first hand. My sticker is on there for good.

Not a MBP but here’s mine. It’s cheap, cheerful, and a bit tacky, but it’s an ode to Apple eras new & old and I like it for that. It’s on a hard shell rather than the MBA itself - I don’t think I’d ever put them on direct.

I attached my business card to the middle of the bottom case. When I travel for business (a rarity these days) and go through security, I put my Macbook in the x-ray basket upside down (so it hides the Apple logo), and when it comes out, it is instantly recognizable as mine because of the colored logo on my card.

No stickers for me. My machine looks as it was designed by its creator. I feel the same way about my body. No tats.
Not mutually related. Tattoos are something that are almost semi permanent, where a sticker can be removed within a second for the most part. I get what you’re saying, but it’s totally two different aspects when you’re _engraving_ ink on your body versus a sticker on the external lid of a MacBook.

When I was traveling extensively (years ago), I always had stickers on my computer to easily identify it while going through security. I could also more easily spot it from a distance if taken; which it never was.
