Just started woking with iMovie. My first step is to convert all my analog tapes to DVD, via a MiniDV camcorder. My 1st project was ~15GB. Once I burn to dvd, is there a way to compress iMovie project for archive? My plan is once I convert all my analog tapes, I want to make a highlight dvd using clips from the various analog tapes, without having to grab the clip from the analog tape again. I have a 320GB external drive, but the projects are going to start to add up.

I usually zip them and save them. You can right (ctrl) click on them and choose make archive to zip them. It sometimes takes GB's off, even cuts them in HALF.

it is also a good idea to empty the trash in imovie,
because that too can save ALOT of space.

(that is assuming you are done with those files ;) )

Thanks for the tips. I zipped up one of my projects, but didn't save much space. Went from a 15GB file to 14GB. Did I do something wrong?
