My iPhone sim-only contract was up for renewal so I called to negotiate a new deal. I've had the AW data package — the first six months were free, since then I've paid £5 a month. I decided not to renew. I like the idea of having it there, but I've never used it.

Do you still have an AW data plan? Do you actually use it?

I bought three Series 3 LTE watches back in December so I got the three month free trial for each watch. I still have two months left on the free trial on the third watch. I may or may not keep it. I still rarely use it after all these months.

I have T-Mobile. Sorry, I didn't see the thread above regarding another thread about this.

It's pretty handy when you go to the gym and don't want to take your phone. Also handy if you're popping out on errands.

Definitely nice to have in the gym. When I go to the gym, I like to carry the most minimal amount of things with me, transitioning from machine to machine is annoying to tote around extra things I don’t need. Streaming music to the Airpods was a *huge* addition with LTE and much needed.

I’m keeping my data plan. A fiver a month is worth it for emergencies and for when my phone battery dies (I’m still on a 6s, so this is often). The last call I took in my watch was while I was hanging out the washing; I’m less likely to have my phone in my pocket in summer clothes and it was good not to have to dash back indoors to find it.

It it was just a simple $5 I’d do it but I’m betting it would be closer to $12-$15 with Verz.

Nice to have when nipping out to the shops etc. So I do use it

When I do weights I leave my phone at home but when doing cardio I like watch YouTube videos when on cross trainer and bike for example.

Same, £5 is nothing and I chose to upgrade my watch over my iPhone 6s! lol

Yes, without the new watch I’d probably have concluded it was time to upgrade my phone but as it is the 6s will do at least until this year’s phones appear. A new battery at the start of this year means it’s not doing too badly now.

It's $16.79 per month with ATT in WV with taxes and fees. With taxes equaling 67% of the cost, I decided to drop it, end of this bill cycle. I just don't use it enough to justify it. The watch functionality that I use the most doesn't work well with cellular and the battery usage is too high still the few times I have. I've bought the newest each year, and I am looking forward to see what the gen 4 looks like. I will probably go for the cellular in it also since I prefer the stainless model.

I decided to add a hotspot to my plan for just a little more. It is way more useful to me.

Those prices are crazy!

tell me about it. We have a e911 fee here in wv of 3.34 per line including watches but not hotspots. with 6 lines on my account it adds over $20 to my cost each month. Of course good ol att adds another 3.40ish for their BS fees and total tax is 6.79. Too much for something that is not 100% needed.

While I do not have an Apple Watch, the actual cost is never $10, as several others have noted. Additionally, I constantly have my phone either in pocket or within (estimated) range of what would be an Apple Watch.

My big hang up is the fact that you cannot get a stainless steel with non-LTE (come on September!).

I know I have mentioned this at least three or four times in various threads over the past few months, but Apple *And* the carriers need to establish plans for more attractive pricing to the consumer on _why_ they would want LTE. And those rates need to be firm and not fluctuating. I think there are plenty consumers who are interested in LTE, but they are not interested in something that would be too high of a price for service they can do without.

I would use it if I could but my Carrier doesn’t support it. There are times when I’m going to the shops that I’d like to only take my watch and not even my wallet and just use Apple Pay. I wouldn’t need to take my phone. But now I have to take my watch and phone.

I agree! These price differences between countries and carriers is horrendous!

Also looks like EE will be the only player for quite some time too...

I switched to EE for the watch and although I’m paying more than I was on Three the connection is much better with far better 4G coverage (and, crucially, a better signal at work, where there seems to be a hole in Three’s coverage; I had been contemplating switching before the watch for that reason).

Add in the ridiculous cost of activation fees and it becomes less and less attractive. I know in the US on Verizon, it used to be (and still could be, not sure) $25 each time you wanted to reactivate it after the first deactivation. Which is essentially 2 months of service just to turn it back on. That in and of itself turns me off.
