Hi everyone!
I currently have an X and my wife has a 6. She needs an upgrade, and I just want one. We are expecting our first child in the Fall and both want the really nice cameras on the 11 so we can take 10000 pictures! Anyways, I was going to wait but my issue is I don’t live the big screens. I don’t think I could go bigger than the X so the 5.4 iphone 12 is what I would get, but they say it’s going to be the cheaper option and not have all the features. So do you think the 11 Pro will have better features than the cheaper 12?
Thanks!

take this with a grain of salt, because this is all based on the rumors most of us avid fans on MR have been reading...

if i understand correctly, the 5.4" will have a two camera set up. if that's true, i would guess that it would use the ultrawide/wide camera combo, similar to the 11 vs the 3 camera setup of the 11pro phones.

my wife has an 11 and i have an 11 pro, so i can comment on picture quality: both are fantastic, but i do appreciate having the telephoto (52mm is not really telephoto, but i'm following apple's naming convention) lens and if i were buying next year, i would be really torn (again if rumors are true) because 5.8" is the max size my hand can accommodate comfortably for one handed operation. 6.1" is too much. 5.4" would be better, but i'd miss the third lens.

so to answer your question, i'm guessing the 12 5.4" will not have the telephoto lens, but on the other hand, it may have other advanced things the 11pro doesn't have. at the very least, it will have 5G...

There must how many people who know the proposed iPhone 12 specs? A lot. And yet, Apple’s security is so tight we know nothing but guesswork, so the OP is trying to make a choice between the known and the unknown. I point out that when the 12 is launched the 11 Pro will be available at a more seductive price than currently, whether from Apple or resellers, and maybe that will clarify the decision. Both will take fabulous shots of the new baby - all good fortune with that.

If you shot 10,000 pictures of your new child with an iPhone 5, you'd cherish them all the same if they were taken with the newest iPhone. They're just memory snapshots, not something that will end up in a magazine

This is true. We, or most of us, take snapshots with our phones and view them on small screens. I don't think I've printed a photo this century, and sadly none have been featured in Vogue.
