Somebody recently told me the only way to go for that is the older model also the 17' at the top of the range

I was wondering if forking out that extra money will do me good

Choice of matte or glossy, nice look ( love old ones ) choice of fw 400 and 800 and a high res screen

What do you think. Kinda new to buying things at this level so i need a bit of assistance

Thanks guys

If it's mainly for music, you don't necessarily need the high resolution screen so a 15" Macbook Pro would be good enough. The current Macbook Pro or the last generation Macbook Pro would be powerful enough to handle Logic Pro or other recording applications. I have a 15" Macbook Pro from 2006 and it runs Logic Pro with no hiccups.
