Do you think Apple will change the MBA's looks into the Aluminium/Glass look when it comes to MacWorld 2009?

Let's hope not! The matte screen on the Air is the only thing holding back glossy-haters from going haywire XD

Anything that adds to the weight of the air I cannot imagine them doing... So, if a glass screen weighed more than the current ones, they won;t switch. The air is supposed to be easy to travel with, light, compact, etc... The last thing Apple will do is add weight to it (which is probably why they haven't incorporated the glass trackpad either).

The weight issue is a great point. Maybe that'll mean that they won't be adding the glass covering to the screen like they did on the MB and MBPs.

The glass bezel isn't really necessary other than to bring it in line with the other models but I think they should go with the new trackpad. I really like the on my my new MBP. The one huge button always looked odd to me and I always used touch-to-tap anyway. They should really turn that on in the stores on the demo units. I hate that loud clicking sound.

True, I really want that trackpad :( Maybe the glass bezel won't increase the weight? (Dreaming here) :p

There will be no changes to the Air (and all other notebooks) at Macworld 2009.

Since they're just now shipping the Rev B, they're not going to make changes 2 months later.

They just upgraded specs at the last keynote for MBA. I don't remember a time that they ever upgraded a product back to back keynotes. Price drops yes (iPhone launch) but never an upgrade. It's mid-November and other countries are just now starting to get new MBA inventory, so to speculate something new for MBA in 2 months from now is just wishful thinking.

Ah, sadly you are unaware of the the infamous iMac upgrade. Apple updated the 20" iMac G5 in October 2005, then at Macworld January 2006 not only did they announce the new Intel version, it was released the same week at Macworld. That really annoyed a lot of people who bought the iMac G5 and couldn't exchange it.

November 2002 the Titanium Powerbook G4 was updated and then at Macworld in January 2003 Apple announced the Aluminum 17" Powerbook with bluetooth, Firewire 800 and for around the same price as the aged Titanium.
Macworld is always full of surprises.

I'm planning on gettng the RevB MBA in a week or two and the only thing that is missing (for me...) and that they could reasonably upgrade is the RAM to 4GB.

I wonder if the carbon fiber construction will find a place in reducing the weight further? I can just picture the display back being a black carbon fiber, name MBA Carbon, 2.5 lbs, BTO with a 256 SSD. January 2009 delivery!!!

That wasn't a product upgrade, it was a completely new product architecture across the board. Do you think that's what's about to happen in January?

Steve just emailed. He said to expect a hybrid two tone carbon Fiber and Titanium Macbook Air Q1 2009.

glass trackpad: Check
glassy screen: Check
black bezel: Check
two usb ports: No
Bigger SSD: No
3G card: forget it
:D

the carbon fiber rumor only reduced the weight by 100grams, didn't it?

They would love to get south of 3 lbs. Four ozs. with the fiber along with more shaving of the main case (another four ozs??) and you're at a deuce and a half. I can just picture Steve holding it on the end of his outstretched fingers saying "Simply Stunning".:)

that would still be groundbreaking....100 grams off would make the macbook air about 2.8 lbs

I'm pretty sure that the Tosh. Portege R500 is about 2~ pounds. Not that groundbreaking, sorry. Plus IMO carbon fiber looks and feels much cheaper than aluminum, though it is a very expensive material.

carbon fiber would scratch real easily too I think. I don't know about everyone else but I'm pretty happy with it being all alumnium at the moment. Sure I wouldn't mind it being lighter as long as it doesn't take away from the MBA's sturdiness.

I do expect only one laptop to be revised at Macworld: the 17" MBP, that is still waiting for its mirror glass screen...
