I have a 2019 15" MacBook Pro. I put a lot of stress on it from what I can tell, mainly because it's always running REALLY hot. I have a lot of live data feeds and streams running simultaneously so I'm guessing that is the reason why.

I saw Craig Federichi discussing the new chip online, and I'm sold. Do you think it would be worth the upgrade though?

I'm guessing I would get money for my 15" through the trade in program, which I could put towards the M1

I don't think it is worth upgrading now. Because the M1 chip is a chip designed for the MacBook Air. If you want to upgrade, I would say wait for the ARM 16" MBP which will come with a far more powerful M-chip.

Im on the same boat as you are, apple will give me around 1150 for trade in value but im not sure how much better the M1 will be than our laptops. I love small iPhones and iPads but I went with the 15'' because of the GPU was non-existent on the 13''. I will just wait a couple of weeks to see how it compares, also remember if you buy it you have until January to return it.

True. Having solid graphics is important to me as well.

I wish Mac mini came with dedicated graphics

do you want to be able to run dual monitors? If no the new M1 chips dont support on the MBPro or AIR
