Over the past several years, I've noticed a proliferation of these menubar helper applications that, unless you disable them, autostart on login. They're used to keep various services and applications up to date, for example: Adobe Creative Cloud, google drive, OneDrive, Box, CleanMyMac, and on and on and on...

I'm wondering - what impact do you think these have on system performance? I feel like they negatively impact performance overall, but I'm wondering if its just the placebo effect because I find them to be a such a nuisance and so ugly clogging up the menu bar. I usually have them off.
