Hi all,
I hope to read comments from netbook owners after I ask this: Do you think your netbook is actually good only for internet use on the go, or is it as decent desktop replacement?
If you go to Geekbench, you'll find out how the Netbooks of today compare to the computers of... other years.
A PowerMac G3 scored 479 points,
A PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.5 GHz) gets 774,
A PowerPC G5 (970) 1.8 GHz (1 core) gets 1078 points
Asus EEE with the Atom 270@1.6GHz get 1020 points.
Overall, the Atom package gets a respectable score. It's about as strong as a basic G5 Powermac and those we wouldn't say are good just for sending email. Is that impressive or what?
I think I'll be keeping a sort of a oldversion.com repository here just in case one day I want to use a netbook as a cheap replacement for my main PC.
