Do you think the iPod touch 3rd Gen will be faster than the 3G S?

  • Definitely- A camera won't be enough to get it sold to people with 2nd or 1st gens.

  • No way, the 3G S is too fast already

Seeing as there is only so much info to base this assumption on...

1) The first gen touch (TO MY KNOWLEDGE) was the same RAM of the iPhone.

2) The second gen touch was a tad faster than the speed improved 3G.

So what do you think? Will the third gen touch follow suit to its first gen or second gen counterpart?

Bragging rights for those who guess it right, of course ;)

While I think Apple does like to have something on the iPod Touch the iPhone doesn't have (the second generation iPod Touch had Nike+ built-in and the 600MHz processor speed), I don't think it will be speed this time. I can see the iPod Touch getting an OLED display and have the same processor and RAM as the iPhone 3GS.

Snappier Safari.

I vote for the faster processor to make the "funnest" iPod even "funner".

The OLED display is also a good possibility. I would hope for both.

I am always on the side that every incremental iPod release must bring something appealing to differentiate it from the iPhone enough for people to spend $$$ on it.

So, I think it should be faster, have a better display, include a better camera (5MP), and bigger storage (64GB).

There's no such thing as "too fast"...

It's called response bias ;)

In my opinion, it will probably be faster. As for display... it's unlikely it will have OLED. The cameras have already been "confirmed" as 3.2 (or 3.1, I don't recall) and the 64 GB is a given... I doubt Apple will keep it at 32 considering they neglected to do the expected February storage update. (Think first gen introduction of 32 GB in February 08.)
