Something has to change for the next iteration of the MBA... I was just wondering if you guys think the next MBA will have a different (outward) physical design change or it will just get a spec bump, or both.

With regards to the "design change," I'm talking about something significant (i.e. would cause you to very easily distinguish it from the current version of MBA), not just an added port or something like that.

Also I realize it's very unlikely that Apple will just make a physical change while keeping the specs the same... but I left the option there for completeness.

Feel free to comment on why you think so in the replies!

Spec bump for sure. But maybe not so much design change. I hope Apple doesn't make the air bigger. (cross my fingers ) Maybe 1 USB port and 1 thunderbolt port? Just guessing.

They just redesigned it after 3 years, why would it change now?

There is approximately zero% chance of a design change.

It takes an insane amount of money and other resources to launch a new product and that's why companies—whether they make computers, cars or chocolate bars—tend to stick with designs for years before making major changes to a product, especially if said product is still doing well in the marketplace.

Spec update

I'd like to see the USB ports moved to one side and the power/video on the other.

There's no way apple would redesign the MBA by the next cycle. There's no need.

I'd welcome a design change that brings a larger screen by way of thinner bezels

No. it took apple almost 3 years to do design change on MBA. Another design change ain't happening for another 3-4 years. Stop making useless threads.

they just redesigned it last fall.. I can't imagine them making any aesthetic changes that wouldn't have to do with making room/deleting space for the guts.

Spec Update. Not even really a bump. Going from C2D to SandyBridge is much more then a bump.

The design will stay the same but most likely get a thunderbolt port.

The package is already good!

I think it will be just a 'spec bump' but there a lot of things that can be greatly improved without major changes to the packaging:

1) Sandy Bridge, 2) Larger SSD, 3) BL keyboard...

Give me two of the three and I will buy the new model.
