If so, how has it benefited you?

Also, do you wear specific straps?

I’d be interested to know.

I don't wear it specifically for sleep tracking, but I do wear it while sleeping. Any strap is fine. I guess I don't have ultra sensitive wrists. I've always worn a watch to sleep and never had problem with the weight of the watch.

Ultra 2 with an Ocean band and S7 Ti with a Nike sports band on alternate nights.
How has it benefited me? It has not detected sleep apnea, I like the vitals view in the morning, as for the sleep data, the REM, core etc, don’t know. I’m a very regular person in that I go to bed and get up pretty much at the same time every day.

I have since long before it was officially supported in watchOS (using AutoSleep.) How I use it, though, is more of tool to let me know how much I slept, and maybe deciding if I should go to be earlier after a couple of bad sleeping nights. I don't stress too much over it though.

One example, if I notice things like higher heart rate and respiration rate than normal, I may be watching out for other signs of illness - a sort of potential early warning system. (But usually I already have other symptoms anyway.)

If so, how has it benefited you? My wife and I both wear an Apple watch for sleep tracking. Medical research is pretty compelling about the importance of adequate sleep and this gives me a tool to monitor that plus peace of mind.

Also, do you wear specific straps? I wear a Solace loop because it is very comfortable.

Same… Ultra 2 here though, Nomad Rocky Point band.

- Yes it has benefited me. I never realized that the periods that my Apple Watch said I was “awake” were the times that I stopped breathing in my sleep. I had a sleep study done and was diagnosed with Sleep apnea. After looking over that data and matching up the new data since I was diagnosed, it all confirms I had sleep apnea for at least 2 years without knowing it.

- I do not wear any specific strap as I can wear any strap comfortably to sleep.

I hope you’re ok, Stacey.

I am 100% sold on the benefits of sleep tracking. However I just can't get on with wearing my watch in bed. So instead I bought an Oura ring and find that not only is it way more comfortable to wear in bed, but seems a lot more accurate from a data perspective, and the insights provided by the app are way more comprehensive than Apple. It also fully syncs with Apple Health app so get best of both.

I bought the watch specifically to track my sleep. I always thought I wasn’t getting enough sleep but found out that I actually was. Once I got the watch I have it hooked up for a lot of things - steps walked, workouts, messages, notifications for maps and other apps. Comes in pretty handy.

No. I don't want a sweaty, heavy thing on my wrist whilst I'm laying on my side or tucking my hands under a pillow.

I find the sleep tracking of smart devices to pale in comparison to the 2 million years of evolution my body has gone through letting me know if I've slept enough.

And for everything else there is coffee.

I've been wearing mine for a couple of years now. I don't really need to but I have an app called Athlytic that helps track my training (running and cycling) and recovery and it uses sleep data (amongst other things) to give me an estimate on my overall level of fatigue and stress, which I can use to train smarter and minimize overexerting myself.

I find the braided solo loop is by far the most comfortable strap to wear, especially while sleeping. It breathes well and there is no metal clasp or pin that can be uncomfortable.

i wear my ultra 2 for a year now whilst sleeping but been contemplating to stop wearing it the novelty wore off and kind of feels like an habit .it really doesn’t tell me much other than the recent vitals data and on occasions it has picked up on feeling flu like symptoms. generally know when im feeling lethargic or if i have less than 6 hours sleep a night im groggy in the morning a filter coffee sorts that out, don't need a watch really to tell me how im feeling been like it since i was teenager. has for straps ive used the alpine original loop did try the ocean band but not very comfortable. i think the non ultra versions are better suited for sleeping the ultra is a bit oversized and the additional weight can take some getting used too for wearing to sleep.

overall the vitals data could be useful for those with ongoing symptoms where the vitals data can give an insight diagnosis to follow up on .

You should wash it after workouts no mater if you sleep with it or not :)

I sleep with mine - I wake up around 5.20 AM almost every morning for my run - an hour before my wife and a bit more before the kids. The Apple Watch being my silent alarm is amazing.

Also I like to keep a overall track of the time sleeping - just to see if I have had a bit too little in a week and need to prioritize going early to sleep a couple of nights.

Ultra and almost all my bands - after getting used to it I barely notice it

Ditto, always on except for charging.

I still have my series (6 or 7? can't remember which model) and so I wear it overnight while my daily watch is on the charger. I have the Milanese loop on it cause that was the last band that was on it and I hvaen't bothered to change it out. I don't think switching to sport band would make much difference (my prior overnight series 4 watch has a Milanese. The only benefit I can see is you get the sleep and HR data, but other than that, no real benefit.

I can't say I've gotten any specific benefits from sleep tracking, other than I like seeing the pretty sleep charts. As for bands, I don't ever change bands, I just pick one and stick with it until the band breaks or I upgrade to a new watch. The bands I use have been either the Nike Sports band or the solo loop. They are both plenty comfortable to wear 24/7.

I do but I kind a don't know why because I don't need that information to anything. If I have slept badly I have slept badly and if I have slept good I have slept good... but for some weird reason it's still interesting to know statistics of my sleep :-D

Yes, I’m using the Ultra 2, Ocean Band, and the health data is super important for me to optimize my sleep. It’s also really helpful with Fitness+. I’m trying to be kind and practice excellence, so it’s all part of the plan!

This. I wear mine to bed but don’t look at the data much. Also, many times it has told me I slept all night despite the fact I have literally got up in the night and gone to the bathroom or downstairs.
