So I noticed today that if I shake my iPhone X hard and listen towards the lens area I hear a rattle noise. I'm not sure if this is an issue or the OIS mechanism inside of it.

However I saw a post stating that all iPhone models have had this since the iPhone 5. So I grabbed my iPhone 6S which rattled towards the lense. Then my iPhone 4S which also rattled too to my surprise. Both where the camera was. I then grabbed another iPhone 6S and that shook as well towards the camera. An iPhone 7 did this as well.

So is this just normal with iPhones? Do your phones rattle?

Thanks!

Its normal. All of my iPhones have always have had some slight rattle to them. That's how they have always been. Also, there have been a multitude of threads have discussed this in the past, with others sharing your same concerns.

iPhone 8 Plus and no it doesn't.

Yes, your iPhone 8 will likely have a rattle slightly if you listen closely. They all do it. iPhones are notorious for having a slight rattle. It's near the camera lens area.

I just shook my iPhone X around and I don’t hear anything. Everything seems as it should. I do know that my previous phone (7 plus) had a rattle around the lens.

The image stabiliser in the camera unit will rattle when shaken. Happens on every iPhone. Yes, it happens on yours too - even if you say it doesn't, you're not shaking hard enough.

You can hear it better if you tap it against your finger, rather than just shaking. But this is all unnecessary anyway.

Alternatively, throw it hard at a wall and listen carefully.

Oh my bad I wasn’t aware(about the previous threads)

But great to hear thanks!

iPhone 5S and SE style phones all rattle - it's the button on the top, and just the way it's been designed. With the others, it's normal with the camera and it's AF, OIS etc. Even then it's so slight that you have to go searching for it to hear it. Another of these first world problems people invent.

I have no issue with it, just wanted to make sure that the device has no problems internally as I'm paying 1k+ for it which I think is understandable.

Your iPhone totally shouldn’t rattle until you drop it good a couple times.
