Dock Alternatives. (Similar to ObjectDock)

For the past few months I've really been getting into desktop customization. My only gripe is the dock. In order to customize the icons in the dock you have to use a program like CandyBar, and this alters the actual icon system wide. Really not cool.

On my Windows machines, I use ObjectDock, I can change the icons without issues seamlessly. Is there a Dock alternative for OS X or an application that adds this functionality?
